According to a recent permit filed with the City of Anaheim, Disney is planning to re-roof the castle, replacing the current damaged shingles with new fiber-reinforced plastic. Further refurbishment is also planned for the castle exterior from January 7th until the Spring of 2019, with the Castle Walkthrough closing on the 17th for an interior refurbishment.
This refurbishment is needed thanks to damages that were caused by the Diamond Celebration decorations from Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Celebration.
