In a little over a month, the night sky at EPCOT will sparkle with the debut of “Luminous: The Symphony of Us,” the latest creation from Disney Live Entertainment, premiering December 5. This brand-new extravaganza promises to dazzle guests with a blend of fireworks, choreographed fountains, and radiant lights, all set to a musical tapestry that celebrates the universality of human emotion.
The show is a harmonious collection of movements, much like a classical symphony, with each segment representing shared life experiences, reminding us of our shared humanity. Original scores, including the opening number “Heartbeat Symphony,” will be featured alongside new arrangements of beloved Disney melodies.
Visitors will be immersed in the show right from the beginning, as World Showcase comes alive with welcoming voices from around the globe. The first notes of “Heartbeat Symphony” will set the tone for the evening, embracing the essence of an EPCOT nighttime spectacular from the outset.
As the symphony unfolds, it takes us on a journey through the universal experiences of life. From the tender theme of parenthood underscored by “You’ll Be in My Heart,” through a multilingual rendition, to the celebration of family with “Proud Corazón,” each movement connects deeply with the audience. Friendships are celebrated with tunes like “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” while the romantic movement is set to the touching “So Close” from “Enchanted.”
The symphony also embraces the solitude of loss with emotional pieces such as “When She Loved Me” and “Remember Me,” only to rise into the hopeful “I See the Light” leading to the grand finale. This final act features the second original composition, “Beating of our Hearts,” symbolizing the unification of our individual melodies into the great symphony of life.
Music is at the heart of this narrative, and Disney Live Entertainment is thrilled to collaborate with Pinar Toprak, renowned for her impressive film scores and the EPCOT anthem. The score is brought to life with voices like singer/songwriter Sheléa and Katharine McPhee, adding a touch of vocal magic to the production.
“Luminous: The Symphony of Us” is not just a show; it’s an invitation to see each other and the world through the universal language of music, light, and celebration at Disney’s EPCOT.
