Hong Kong, November 20, 2023 – The Walt Disney Company celebrated a significant milestone in its 100-year history with the opening of World of Frozen, the world’s first “Frozen” themed land, at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The grand opening ceremony was officiated by Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, along with Queen Anna and Elsa, who welcomed guests to the kingdom of Arendelle.
Josh D’Amaro highlighted that World of Frozen is Hong Kong Disneyland’s largest expansion since its 2005 opening. He emphasized the theme park’s continuous evolution with new stories and experiences, echoing Walt Disney’s vision that “Disneyland will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world.” This new addition exemplifies the ongoing collaboration between The Walt Disney Company and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, bringing immersive storytelling to life.
Paul Chan expressed his excitement about bringing the animated world of Arendelle to reality, allowing visitors to Hong Kong Disneyland to immerse themselves in scenes previously confined to animation. He believes the World of Frozen will elevate Hong Kong Disneyland to new heights and attract more tourists to Hong Kong.
As the “Frozen” franchise celebrates its 10th anniversary, World of Frozen stands as a testament to Disney’s storytelling legacy. This new themed land allows guests to experience the story and characters of one of Disney’s most successful franchises.
The creative team at Walt Disney Imagineering spent seven years delving into the film’s scenes and character backstories to create this unique destination. D’Amaro described World of Frozen as a blend of storytelling, innovation, and creativity, creating an ultimate immersive experience. Michael Moriarty, Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, also expressed his enthusiasm for the positive response to World of Frozen.
Guests visiting World of Frozen can enjoy new attractions like the Frozen Ever After boat ride to Elsa’s Ice Palace, Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs adventure, and an interactive play experience with Queens Anna and Elsa at Playhouse in the Woods. In addition to these attractions, visitors can savor Nordic cuisine and purchase exclusive “Frozen” themed souvenirs to commemorate their visit during the festive season.
