Marvel fans around the world were despondent when a number of years ago, Disney ended its relationship with Netflix and stranded “Daredevil.” Or so they thought! This week, when Marvel fans log into their Disney+ accounts, they’ll find that blend of gritty realism and compelling superhero drama delivered to their small screens once again. The reconstituted series masterfully continues the dark, nuanced storytelling fans loved from its original run, while increasing the character depth and narrative complexity.
Charlie Cox wows as Matt Murdock, capturing the hero’s internal struggle with vulnerability and intensity. The chemistry among the cast, including stellar returns by Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, takes the show to new heights with palpable tension and gripping emotion.
The fight choreography remains amongst Marvel’s best, featuring some of the most visually striking and meticulously crafted action sequences anywhere, not to mention on streaming. Cinematography and direction expertly amplify the show’s moody, noir aesthetic, making each episode visually captivating and emotionally engaging.
Disney+ really did right by the fans on this one, and this continues Marvel’s recent hot streak, at least as far as I’m concerned.
