On Saturday, July 6, Cameron Boyce, the talented and much-beloved young actor who starred in several Disney Channel series, as well as the hugely-popular “Descendants” films, passed away suddenly at the age of 20.
A Disney Channel representative offered sympathies while speaking lovingly about Boyce: “From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of people through his humanitarian work. He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson, and friend. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”
Boyce catapulted to Disney Channel fame as Luke Ross in the DC series Jessie for four seasons and then in the spin-off show BUNK -D. Boyce also made appearances on Disney Channel shows Gamer”s Guide to Pretty Much Everything, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Liv and Maddie, Shake it Up, Austin and Ally, and Good Luck Charlie.
The young actor then rocketed to even greater acclaim as Carlos, son of Disney villain Cruella De Vil, in the hit Disney Channel films Descendants and Descendants 2. On August 2, the highly-anticipated Descendants 3 is set to premiere on Disney Channel, with Boyce reprising his role as Carlos for the final time. On his Instagram, director of the Descendants films Kenny Ortega beautifully expressed his condolences, as well as his love and admiration of Boyce: “My love, Light and Prayers go out to Cameron and his Family. Cameron brought Love, Laughter and Compassion with him every day I was in his presence. His talent, immeasurable. His kindness and generosity, overflowing. It has been an indescribably honor and pleasure to know and work with him. I will see you again in all things loves and beautiful, my friend. I will search the stars for your light. Rest in Peace, Cam. You will always be My Forever Boy!”
Though still very young, Boyce was already passionate about charity work, and was honored at the Thirst Gala in 2018, receiving the Pioneering Spirit Award for his work with The Thirst Project. Boyce raised $30,000 to build wells to provide clean drinking water for the people of Swaziland.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Iger, issued this statement about the tragic passing of the young actor: “The Walt Disney Company mourns the loss of Cameron Boyce, who was a friend to so many of us, and filled with so much talent, heart and life, and far too young to die. Our prayers go out to his family and his friends.”
Monorail News would also like to extend our heartfelt sorrows and sympathies to the family and friends of Cameron Boyce. He was an amazingly talented young actor and seemingly loved and admired by all who knew him. His untimely passing is a great loss to Disney fans and to the world.
