Contrary to reports earlier this week that the White House was considering restricting domestic air travel to Florida, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki issued a statement today insisting that it currently has no such plans:
“No decisions have been made around additional public health measures that would change domestic travel.”
The White House further maintained its stance in a statement today to Reuters, commenting that “the administration is continuing to discuss recommendations across the travel space, but no specific decisions are under consideration. “
These statements come in the wake of widely-expressed concern surrounding the rising number of cases in Florida of the highly-contagious, COVID-19 variant which originated in the U.K.
