Today, select Guests at Disney California Adventure’s “A Touch of Disney” event experienced a potential new meet-and-greet with a tiny, “lifesize” Tinker Bell. Disney Imagineers conducted a playtest of their newest character interaction, and Jenn Tanaka was among the lucky Guests chosen to participate. Tanaka described her family’s experience in an Instagram post, with pictures and videos to capture the unexpected opportunity that became “the highlight of our day:”
During the meet-and-greet playset, Tinker Bell first appeared to her Guests in her lantern, and then flew around the room. She finally landed in a device she invented which allows her voice to be heard by her those who have come to visit. Tinker Bell was fully interactive, and addressed each child by name.
Disney Imagineers conduct playsets as part of the development process for a new attraction at the Disney Parks. Allowing Guests a sneak peak at an experience such as the Tinker Bell meet-and-greet provides valuable feedback to the Imagineers as they prepare their new attraction for its official opening at a Disney theme park.
