Following the CDC’s recommendation yesterday, that all Americans, regardless of vaccination status, wear face coverings indoors due to the rise of the highly transmissible Delta variant, Walt Disney World and Disneyland have announced that they will be implementing indoor mask mandates once again.
The revised policy will take effect July 30th for all guests and Cast Members.
“Beginning July 30, face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status. This includes upon entering and throughout all attractions. Face coverings remain optional for all Guests in outdoor common areas.” Disney said in a statement.
This policy represents not only a reversal of Disney’s decision earlier this summer to only require vaccinated guests to wear face coverings on transportation, but also of the CDC’s recommendation released only two months ago.
Scientists and health experts argue that this move is necessary in order to curb the spread of the new Delta variant and protect individuals who cannot receive the vaccine for health reasons.
