Disney’s longtime CEO and outgoing Executive Chairman, Bob Iger, spent the past three days at Walt Disney World as his time with the company comes to a close on New Years Eve.
Mr. Iger took the opportunity to commend his fellow Cast Members for “taking care of me all these years” and for their commitment to making the magic.
Mr. Iger is stepping down after a storied career with the company beginning at ABC as he rose through the ranks to become former CEO Micheal Eisner’s top lieutenant and Disney’s COO before stepping into the CEO role in 2005.
Over his tenure Disney has grown exponentially, with his acquisition of Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox. The parks flourished with many billions of dollars having been spent on existing parks like Disney California Adventure and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This is on top of the major new resort constructed under his tenure, Shanghai Disney Resort, which was chock full of groundbreaking and innovative new attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure and the largest Disney castle ever constructed.
Mr. Iger shared an image of the Partners Statue in front of the Team Disney building on the Studio Lot in Burbank, California on his final day with the company.
All of us at Magical Media wish Bob Iger the best, because that’s what he’s always given us.
