Chinese permits recently surfaced online pointing to a major expansion of Shanghai Disneyland in the form of a new hotel that will bump the resort’s total hotel count to three, in addition to the signature theme park and DisneyTown shopping and dining area.
According to a post on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter, the Shanghai International Theme Park Supporting Facilities has ordered tenders for the upcoming hotel. The poster, SouthernSkyD23, indicates the hotel will be located on a plot adjacent to the Resort’s signature Disneyland Hotel.

The name and theme of the hotel are still unknown, it’s likely to be the largest hotel on property, with a total plot size of 48,000 square meters.
The resort was rumored to be announced at the D23 Expo back in September, but that wasn’t the case, perhaps because the Shanghai Shendi Group, which is the resort’s majority owner, didn’t authorize an announcement to keep the spotlight on their upcoming Zootopia themed land and attraction.
