Disney fans, get ready to be transported to the world of Pandora once again! D23 has just announced that the upcoming “Avatar” experience at Disneyland Resort will be just as amazing as the one at Walt Disney World Resort.
While details about the experience are still under wraps, CEO Bob Iger had previously announced that a version of Avatar would be coming to Disneyland Resort. It’s still unclear whether it will be a full land like Pandora or something else entirely.
James Cameron, director of the Avatar films and founder and CEO of Lightstorm Entertainment, expressed his excitement about the immersive parks experiences that will bring the movies’ themes to life. “The films are all about connection…with the physical environment, with family,” he said. “I was thrilled to talk with Bob Iger about additional opportunities for people to step into the wondrous world of Pandora.”
The announcement for the Avatar experience at Disneyland Resort has been a long time coming, with Imagineers working since 2017 to bring Avatar stories and characters to life in new ways.
During a Q&A session following the initial announcement, Iger referenced Pandora as an example of how Disney can increase growth at theme parks while managing attendance restrictions. He heavily implied that the entire land, or at least its core parts, will be making its way to Disneyland Resort. It was also suggested that this addition will be made without a loss in capacity to other attractions, as that was the core focus of the discussion at the time.
Stay tuned for more updates and details about the upcoming Avatar experience at Disneyland Resort, and get ready to be immersed in the wondrous world of Pandora once again!
