UPDATE: The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission released the following statement, confirming the incident at Magic Kingdom:
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is aware of a black bear reported in a tree on Walt Disney World property at the Magic Kingdom. Biologists with the FWC’s Bear Management Program, as well as FWC Law Enforcement officers, are on scene. In most cases, it is best for bears to be given space and to move along on their own, but given this situation, staff are working on capturing and relocating the bear.
During the fall, bears are more active as they search for food to pack on fat reserves for the winter. This particular bear was likely moving through the area searching for food.
The FWC reminds people that if you see a bear, to give it space and never approach or feed it. To learn more about bears and how to avoid conflicts with them, visit MyFWC.com/Bear

Early today, a significant portion of the Magic Kingdom was temporarily closed down. Sources from WDWMAGIC have revealed that the cause of the closure is an unexpected furry guest: a bear, currently perched in a tree near the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland.
Disney is yet to release an official statement addressing the curious incident.
For those planning to visit, be advised: Cast Members have been stationed at both the Liberty Square and Adventureland entrances to prevent guests from accessing the western section of the park.
Currently, the “My Disney Experience” app is reflecting that numerous attractions are “Temporarily Closed”. As of 10:00 am today, the closed attractions include:
- Big Thunder Mountain
- Hall of Presidents
- Haunted Mansion
- Jungle Cruise
- Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Swiss Family Tree House
- Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid
- Walt Disney World Railroad
- Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Guests are encouraged to stay updated via the official app for more information on when normal operations will resume.
