Mickey Mouse Visits Pittsboro as Disney Donates $30,000 to Local Boys & Girls Clubs
Disney Gears Up for Second Storyliving Community
Mickey Mouse stopped by Pittsboro, North Carolina, on Saturday, Oct. 17, as Storyliving by Disney presented a $30,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina.
The celebration marked the Pittsboro Boys & Girls Club’s fifth anniversary and the regional organization’s 30 years of serving children and families.
Mickey greeted children and joined them for a dance, while young attendees also received Disney toys. Pittsboro Mayor Kyle Shipp, who also serves as board president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina, was among the community leaders attending the event.
The visit comes as Disney prepares to bring Asteria, its second Storyliving by Disney residential community, to Pittsboro and Chatham County. According to Disney’s latest update, home sales are anticipated to begin in late 2027, with the first homeowners expected to move in during late 2028.
Asteria follows Cotino, the first Storyliving by Disney community, in Rancho Mirage, California. The residential developments feature input from Walt Disney Imagineering, with separate club offerings that include Disney programming.
Disney says the donation builds on its decades-long relationship with Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
