The Magic Key Terrace at Disney California Adventure will soon be transformed into a private lounge for Disneyland Magic Key holders.
According to the Orange County Register, the lounge will serve as a “hidden respite” for annual passholders.
“When we started our Magic Key program, the park decided that it would be a really great thing to have a location for them that they could call their own,” Imagineer Kim Irvine said. “Now the Magic Key members have the same thing which is really wonderful.”
She went on, saying, ”we wanted to make sure it was a very special place for Magic Key members,” Irvine said during an online video interview. “We spent a lot of time on the detail, mood, environment and energy of the place.”
Imagineering created a whole new backstory for the space, focused around a couple that wanted to renovate the hacienda while retaining its elegance and old-world charm.
“Climbing vines and banana trees will surround a gurgling wall fountain. Floor-to-ceiling drapes will help soften the sound in the covered lounge area. Wrought iron lighting fixtures will brighten the space. Palm trees in tall vases will serve as accents,” According to the Paper.
The space will also feature a lovely mural by Imagineer Leslee Turnbull, who also painted murals for some other exclusive Disneyland spaces.
“You’ve got Avengers Campus just to the left and Pixar Pier right across the way. Those are all really high-energy places,” Mrs. MIrvine said. “Magic Key Terrace is really a change of energy and a change of mood. A chance to slow down, relax with a little food and drink, and think about what to do next.”
